Quantcast Be humble
lowering the bar Saturday, January 28, 2012

We are told that some High School students are being allowed to avoid taking final exams as long as they have an average of 65% and have missed no more than 6 days of school.  These young people are our future - the mechanics, doctors, accountants, bureaucrats etc.  How do you feel about the mechanic who will be working on your car who managed to obtain a 65% average but was not tested on retention?  Will he or she know 65% of what they need to know to change your oil?

During a period of time that other countries are concentrating on improving academic performance and consistently score higher when tested, we decide to lower the bar a bit.  Can’t have the little dears stressed can we?  We do well on Facebook though.

In response to comments from struggling seniors trying to figure out a way to pay the increase in property taxes and Waste Watch fees, the Honourable Wes Sheridian has said, “It makes no sense with regard to the market value versus the taxable value”.   Sheridan was commenting in response to the suggestion that there should be a freeze on senior’s taxes.

On the same day I listened to a brief interview with the Honourable Robert Vessey who dodged and weaved and double-talked without answering the questions.

WOW – it took the Binns government much longer to reach this level of arrogance.

If you were wondering what to do with your pension plan.  May I suggest?  I just heard one visitor mutter darkly about Eurotrash.

The Buddha would tell us to want what we have and to not desire what we don’t have.  To which I say, bullshit!

..and they think this is new?

Brain scans of people under the influence of psilocybin - the active ingredient in magic mushrooms - show that brain activity is suppressed by the drug.

And, says the Imperial College London team, it enhances personal memories, meaning it could one day be used alongside psychotherapy totreat depression.

“Psychedelics are thought of as ‘mind-expanding’ drugs, so it has commonly been assumed that they work by increasing brain activity, but surprisingly, we found that psilocybin actually caused activity to decrease in areas that have the densest connections with other areas,” says Professor David Nutt, from the Department of Medicine at Imperial College London.

Keeps peeling back the skin of the onion.  It is surprising that more people are not crying.

Panni

I probably good not get my knees up that high, certainly would not spend the $30K + and even if I could do both - ARGH, never mind.  For the uninformed, that is an image of the 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale.  If only it was as simple as want VS need.
